So for all those like minded, somewhat manic, LOTR loving, craft supply hoarding folk out there all three of you. I start plenty of things like this only to have them completely bomb, this one just happened to work out, so I thought I'd share. I have a million excuses, but really it just come down to the fact that I just wanted to. It keeps me from organizing the sock drawer. Brainstorming the idea and figuring how to do it. It was really just the joy in the craft journey. My kid would have been happy with the plain walking stick.
Well, it isn't really just for the costume. Inevitably there are people reading this wondering. Especially because it was forty degrees here and his double layers of fleece and wool wig and beard kept him toasty warm! But all in all, it was a very successful costume. I also couldn't figure out how to do a brim to his hat that didn't look like a witch type brim. He is rather sensitive I figured dealing with a mustache would be too much for him. I am aware that my Gandalf has a gnomish look about him. The attached polyresin pipe and spike replicas are removable, and the staff comes with a polystone wall display that matches the display design of United's other staff replicas from The Hobbit.P.S.
